| Prep |
- Wash coffee pot with soap and water, and let dry thoroughly.
- Trace patterns onto tracing paper using the black pen. Transfer the outer edge of the design onto the front of the coffee pot with white transfer paper. Apply Gesso over the design area. Let dry and repeat.
- Dip the toothbrush into Spice Tan. Pull your finger across the bristles to splatter the brown areas of the coffee pot. Let dry.
- Transfer basic pattern lines with black transfer paper.

| Paint |
Note: Use the round brushes to basecoat; script liners to apply stitch lines, detail lines, vines, and strokes; the shader and flat wash to float shading and highlighting; the fabric brush to drybrush highlights and cheeks; the mop to blend floated areas; and the stylus to add dots.
Refer to the pattern for position of shading (///) and highlighting (…).
- Basecoats. Base knob on top of coffee pot, outside of spout, trim inside handle and lid border, and candle with Maple Sugar Tan; gingerbread man and bowl with Spice Tan; frosting on gingerbread man and angel’s collar with Flesh Tan; candle flame with Terra Cotta; angel's face and hands with AC Flesh; large star with Burnt Sienna; and hangtag with Trail Tan. Base pink rag ball with Think Pink + Burgundy Rose (2:1), blue rag ball with Wedgwood Blue, and striped rag ball with Latte. Base angel’s sleeves with Williamsburg Blue. Let dry.
- Transfer detail lines with black transfer paper.
- Gingerbread man. Shade with Brown Iron Oxide and drybrush highlights with AC Flesh. Base coal buttons with Charcoal, let dry, and highlight with Wedgwood Blue. Dot eyes with Black.
- Rusty star. Use Charcoal to float shading around edges and stipple center. Float and stipple highlights with Terra Cotta and let dry. Transfer star detail lines. Add detail lines and dots with Black. Highlight center dot with Wedgwood Blue.
- Hangtag. Shade with Brown Iron Oxide and drybrush Flesh Tan highlights. Add lettering with Black.
- Angel. Add Wedgwood Blue lines on sleeves. Drybrush cheeks with Think Pink + Burgundy Rose (2:1). Line hair with Barn Red, and stitches on face, hands, and collar, and twig wings with Brown Iron Oxide. Dot eyes with Black.
- Rag balls. Add stitch lines on blue ball with Dark Night Blue, on the pink ball with Candy Bar Brown, and on the tan ball with Pine Green. Paint Autumn Brown cracks on the dough bowl
- Shading, highlights, and details. Shade blue rag ball and angel's sleeves with Dark Night Blue and pink rag ball with Candy Bar Brown. Shade tan rag ball, knob on top of coffee pot, spout, trim on handle and lid, and deepen shading on pink ball with Brown Iron Oxide. Using Antique White, highlight rag balls, drybrush sleeves, and add detail strokes and dots on rag balls. Outline hangtag and add wire hanger with Black.
- Candle. Shade flame with Red Iron Oxide and wax areas with Brown Iron Oxide. Drybrush around the flame with Latte. Use Antique White to drybrush and float highlights on the candle wax, and to paint detail strokes on and around the flame and on the candle wax. Line wick with Black. Add tiny Red Iron Oxide lines on the candle flame.
- Vines and berries. Create vines with Dark Burnt Umber. Stroke Medium Foliage Green leaves and let dry; then shade with Pine Green and let dry. Add a Stonewedge Green highlight stroke on each leaf. Dot some berries with Barn Red and some with AC Flesh.

- Seal with spray varnish, let dry, and repeat.
- For added protection, brush on one coat of matte varnish.
